Life Begins at Forty

What does it really mean when people say "life begins at 40" ? If we choose to take it literally, then what could have happened to the first 39 years of our lives?

At 40, I am married with a 12 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. I was at the peak of my career and was earning more than enough to live conveniently. My dream house was getting built with cars to use so as not to be amongst the commuters fighting for their lives for transportation day in day out. I go on food trips and vacations proudly posting pictures in social media. I was living my life to the fullest or am I?

In a snap, I had one of my biggest fears running through my eyes. I was bleeding non-stop. I have seen multiple doctors seeking multiple opinions. In the end, a unanimous diagnosis was explained to me; a minute module was found just outside my uterus. Only 1 question went through my mind, what legacy am I leaving behind?

Upon reflecting on the life I lived, I learned about the real essence of being in my 40s. It is when we are matured enough to start living and focusing on what is important in life.

S-how the real you ...
H-appiness is now ...
A-lways seize the moment ...
L-ove truly and deeply ...
L-ive your purpose ...

Now at 45, I SHALL begin to value what truly matters and start living for myself, my family and my community. Life is not about what we take out of it but it is more about what we give and share to others.
